Ingredients

  • 200 gm ginger, peeled and thickly sliced
  • 1 paan leaf
  • 100 gm caster sugar
  • Juice of half lime
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp fennel seed powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp black salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups water for boiling

How to Make Ginger Paan Bites

  • Step 1: Prepare the Ginger
Wash, peel, and slice the ginger into thick pieces.
  • Step 2: Boil the Ginger
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add lime juice and salt. Add sliced paan leaf and ginger, then let it cook on medium heat for about 30 minutes.
  • Step 3: Strain
Strain the water and transfer the cooked ginger and paan into a pan.
  • Step 4: Rest with Sugar
Add caster sugar over the ginger and let it rest for around 4 hours so the sugar melts and coats the pieces.
  • Step 5: Cook Again
Place the pan on medium heat and stir continuously for 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Step 6: Add Spices
Add fennel seed powder, black salt, cumin powder, and black pepper. Keep mixing until the sugar dries again and coats the ginger evenly.
  • Step 7: Final Coating
Transfer the ginger pieces into a bowl of sugar to coat lightly. Remove excess sugar.
  • Step 8: Store
Let the bites cool completely and store in an airtight container.
